Doesn't mean the paint is in good shape. So with about 3000 miles on the S4 I finally got around to having a clear bra installed. I went back and forth with the idea for sometime but in the end I decided its a gorgeous car and I want to keep it looking that way. I took the car to Elite Finish Detailing in San Diego where Wes Walz hooked it up! He polished the entire car and applied C.Quartz Finest coating to every panel that wasn't going to get clear bra'd. Evan from Auto Armour came by and wrapped the full hood, fenders, bumpers, mirrors, cups, and back cargo pad area.
Just because it was a "new" car definitely doesnt mean that the paint was in good shape. There was already some wash damage caused by either me or the dealer, and there was some weird over spray type stuff along the passenger side that Wes had to fight. Also the clear coat on the black was different than he had seen on previous Audi's (He owns a blue 2014 S4 and has done countless other Audi's) that put up a fight...but the results speak for themselves. Pictures can't do this car justice. You won't find a tiny scratch anywhere on this car now.
Here are some before close-ups
And here is what she looks like now.

Nice, much better. After reading the title I assumed it would be a Subaru- some of the worst new car paint I've ever seen.

It's black. Be prepared to do that every few months.

Oh not for me, but I know a few guys who after a few years got some rust on theirs (and this is in Edmonton, where we DONT salt the roads in winter).
Another common issue was the side skirts having their paint chip as shown, and Audi of Canada/America had no idea what was going on.

The C.Quartz coating has a 2 year warranty so it SHOULD last a couple years. Wes says he has no issues with cars (properly taken care of) going 2-3 years between coatings. Yea its black so its a pain to keep clean...but when it is clean its all worth it :)

Yea luckily in San Diego we don't have snow so I never have to worry about road salt. And when i do go to the mountains I usually take the truck so I won't have to worry about the S4 getting mucked up...

Eesh, that's short turnaround for rust, especially for a german car. It has to put up with those climates back home, anyways.
I'm spoiled to live in Texas, even old cars don't rust unless neglected.

Holy shit is Subaru paint bad. I bought a 2013 Forester XT, and the clear coat had bubble spots on the roof a month after I bought it. I wash and wax my cars regularly. Bird shit wold eat through the clear coat if left for more than a few hours.

Do you know what type of clay / wax / sealant was used?

I couldn't tell you what clay bar was used, but there is no wax or selant on the car. The C.Quartz is a coating, which in essence does the same thing as a wax/selant, but it is much stronger, wont wear off as fast, and protects better.
